Rustic Chic Engagement Photos by Vanessa Joy Photography
Samantha and Ricky’s rustic engagement session was adorable and so colorful. I loved how Samantha chose a navy blue dress with pops of color in it! I feel this session gives off a great rustic chic element with the scenery, the light and the buildings we incorporated. Read below to learn more about Rick and Samantha! I can’t wait for their wedding this year! 🙂
From the Bride:
After Vanessa recommended a “secret” park to take our engagement photos, I chose our attire based on the background colors and scenery. I wanted our outfits to compliment the vibrant elements to the park. I purchased my floral dress, fuchsia Jessica Simpson heels, and my fiancé’s peach Tommy Bahama brand shirt from Nordstrom. My subtle jewelry came from Francesca’s collection and Ricky’s jeans were Lucky Brand. I wanted everything to be bright and colorful especially because we took the photos in August!
How did you two meet?
Back in 2009, I was working at an Italian Deli for about a year, when one day a boy wearing jeans and a white tee shirt came into the store… It was Ricky. He was starting his first day and we were immediately introduced to one another. I wouldn’t say it was love at first sight being that we were only 18 years old, just about to graduate from two different high schools, and were both in relationships with other people. But, after working together for a period of time and growing friendlier with each other, both of our relationships ended so we decided to take our friendship to the next level. After a couple of dates, we went on a ski trip together in January 2010 with our mutual friends. From that moment on, I knew that there was something special between us. Who knew that boy, would now be my best friend and my future husband!
What’s one thing you’re looking forward to in your life-after-marriage together?
One thing we are both looking forward to the most is having a family. We have been thinking about our future so much and kids are one of our first priority. We have been together for about 6 and half years and we are really looking forward to some new adventures, and what better way than having kids!!
How did he pop the question?
Ricky popped the question at our favorite vacation spot, Aruba. We had scheduled to take pictures on the beach one night on our trip, and he had planned the whole thing with the photographer. He proposed at sunset on the beach during our photo shoot. The one thing I always told him was that I wanted someone to be there to capture the moment. He listened! After he proposed I had an even bigger surprise. As I was walking into the restaurant to find our seats, I saw my mom and Ricky’s mom sitting at the table. He flew them out to Aruba to be there for that night and the rest of the trip. It was perfect!
What are you most excited about for your wedding? (Dances, speeches, vows, party etc).
We are most excited about being with all of our family and friends, dancing the night away to great music, enjoying every last minute of every second of the day and celebrating our future life together!
What is your favorite memory together?
My favorite memory besides the day we got engaged was the day Ricky asked me to be his girlfriend. We were on a ski trip up at mountain creek and we had rented a cabin with some of our family and friends. The weekend was such a great time. After everyone left for the weekend we had stayed an extra night and we were just relaxing watching tv and he asked me to be his girlfriend. It was just such a fun weekend filled of adventures and it was the start to this amazing relationship!
