I have known Kyleigh since she was a little girl with blonde ringlets running around in pretty dresses with her sister Taylor. In a way, we grew up together and for quite a few years, even worked with me on weddings as one of my most favorite assistants ever.
When she announced that she was getting married in Wales, I, of course, was beyond excited to be a wedding guest, but wanted to still pull out my camera and offer a capture something of the day for her. She said that capturing the wedding brunch the next day, or maybe it’s called the post-wedding tea? Would be perfect and I couldn’t be more thrilled.

The Charm of Welsh Wedding Traditions
Wales offers a distinctive backdrop for destination weddings, with its rolling green landscapes, historic castles, and rich cultural traditions. The Welsh post-wedding tea—a charming tradition that follows the main celebration—provides an intimate setting for couples to spend quality time with guests in a more relaxed atmosphere after the excitement of the wedding day.
Unlike the formality of the wedding day itself, these post-wedding gatherings in Wales embrace the country’s renowned hospitality and allow for meaningful conversations and connections. The tradition reflects the Welsh value of “cwtch” (a special type of hug or safe place) by creating a warm, welcoming space for continued celebration. As a photographer who specializes in destination weddings, I find these cultural traditions create some of the most authentic and emotionally rich images of the entire wedding experience.
