Erica and Matt’s elegant springtime wedding at Nanina’s in the Park took place on a beautiful day in May and was shot by New Jersey wedding photographer Vanessa Joy. The bride and groom wanted their wedding day to be the best day of their lives and they made sure to pick some of the best wedding vendors that New Jersey had to offer to make sure that things ran smoothly. From the white flowers and greenery from Peonies to Paint Chips florist to the 1960 Rolls Royce Cloud that they rode in, all the details had a timeless and elegant feel.

Matt and I met when I was a junior and he was a sophomore at James Caldwell High School in West Caldwell, NJ. I originally asked him to my Junior Prom because my best friend was dating his twin brother. Truth be told, I thought it would have been “cool” to take pictures with my best friend and the twins. We had the best time at prom (as friends) and remained in touch throughout the summer and the next year school year.
It wasn’t until the second semester of her senior year that Erica realized she had feelings for Matt. They both played lacrosse and participated in a church play that allowed them to spend a lot of time together after school and on weekends. They really got to know each other and Matt eventually asked Erica on a date. Erica knew Matt was the one after five or six months of dating and they have been together since February of 2008. Erica thinks it’s pretty cool that she got to marry my high school sweetheart who is also my best friend and the love of my life!
While I absolutely loved every single thing about our entire wedding day, a moment I will never forget is right after church, Matt and I got in to a 1960 Rolls Royce Cloud to drive to Kips Castle in Verona, NJ where we took pictures with our bridal party. The drive was only 15 or 20 minutes long but we got to take a moment for just ourselves to sip on champagne , bask in our happiness, and toast to our new journey as husband and wife – we felt like royalty!
Matt and Erica knew that their wedding day would be the best day of their lives and they wanted their families, bridal party, friends and guests to have an amazing day too.
We always said we wanted a traditional wedding with a timeless and elegant feel. I’ve had a secret Pinterest board for years and always gravitated towards a classic ballroom with tons of white flowers, greenery and gold accents. Our goal was to look back on our wedding day 5, 10, 25, 50 years from now and still love every detail of our wedding day.
We will tell them that May 11th, 2019, was the best day of our lives!! There are no words to describe the range of emotions you feel on your wedding day. However, the one feeling we will never forget is how special all of our family and friends made us feel. It was an amazing feeling/experience to have every single person who you love come together and celebrate with us.
Weaving together moments of intimacy and grandeur to create alluring, romantic, and moving portraits.
