Becky and Brian :: Lobster Shanty Wedding Photos
I’m not even sure how to put into words Becky and Brian’s Lobster Shanty Wedding Photos. The day was absolutely perfect. I loved the color combination Becky chose and the beautiful details she put together so perfectly. Becky wore a jaw-dropping Berta gown and Alexandre Birman heels in a deep blue color. The overall look to Becky and Brian’s wedding was beautiful and I loved the different blues tones incorporated with gold! The energy from the church to the venue was endearing and so warming – everyone felt it. Read more below about Becky and Brian’s wedding inspiration.
What was the inspiration for your wedding and what was most important to you when planning your wedding?
We knew our wedding style would take shape from where we held our reception dinner. It seems simple to have a set theme but during planning there are so many ideas and considerations whirling around of many different aesthetics and it was difficult to make a decision. Inspiration is everywhere and it constantly made my style ideas and colors change. When Brian found me watching Taylor Swift’s Oheka Castle video on repeat and running around with pearls for the following week, it was time to take a step back.
Our main focus was being able to include everyone and staying true to who we are. There are so many options for destination weddings but we knew not everyone would be able to attend. It was important for us to put that first. In my heart I knew I needed to be a bride by the sea. Since we can’t pack up the beach and drop it in the middle of Oheka Castle, we stuck to our roots. The Jersey Shore.
The Jersey shore brings our families together. Brian’s family is from the Bronx NY and Long Island. When he was little his family moved to Maryland and they would vacation to his family’s shore home in Belmar NJ each summer. I grew up surfing Belmar beach and enjoying the perks of local life. I have the absolute best childhood memories with my family growing up at the Jersey shore. When Brian and I met in Maryland we instantly connected with stories of our childhood and especially the hilarious stories our parents tell of their Jersey shore days when they were our age. Our families always love getting together and telling their tales! They couldn’t have been more excited to celebrate our wedding day in Point Pleasant.
When we walked into a bridal show at Jack Bakers it was pure coincidence. My mom and I are nosy, we were having dinner at the Lobster Shanty and we heard all the commotion and decided to take a peek. We looked at one another as if they plucked everything right out of our heads. The room was absolutely breathtaking! It was airy, romantic, intimate and overlooking the water. Our inspiration ran easily from there.
Jack Bakers Sunset Ballroom banquet managers Nancy and Jacquie are the most sincere, enjoyable people to be around. They made our entire planning process run so smooth and we couldn’t be more grateful for them. The ceremony took place at Manasquan United Methodist Church in Manasquan NJ where the Bride’s parents were also married. My favorite memory from our day aside from marrying my best friend, was having my dad walk me down the aisle in the same church my parents were married 37 years earlier. There is something very special about being able to envision your moms walk and recreating it years later hand in hand with her best friend and the most amazing Dad a girl could ask for. Our one minute walk meant the world, more than any of us could put into words and we all felt it.
The bridal party arrived in a bright red trolley adorned with a cute sign ‘getting married.’ As guests walked up to the church they heard Brian’s cousin playing the bagpipes outside and entered to beautiful classical music from a violin, Cello and piano played by Sweet Harmony Music. The family and wedding party processional transitioned from Louis Armstrong, What a wonderful world into Moon River. A beautiful ceremony followed led by our church Pastor. As we ran out after the receiving line a mixture of lavender seeds and lilac petals were tossed into the air, and all over us!
We recreated a photo from my parents wedding in the church which was so fun! I would look at my parent’s picture when I was a little girl and name everyone. I love how we will be able to share this with our children someday. We took our additional pictures in Spring Lake and we were so lucky to have Vanessa Joy capture it all in exactly the way we had envisioned. Her photography is so natural and ethereal and she manages to get the perfect mix of posed and candid images. Rob Adams, an incredible videographer created the sweetest wedding video that we cannot stop watching.
Cocktail hour was held at Jack Bakers Lobster Shanty in Point Pleasant NJ. Sweet Harmony Music continued over and played everything from Bruno mars to Lord of the Rings theme music. Our signature drink was passed around while guests mingled and enjoyed an abundance of food and took in the water views.
Guests were ushered over to the main reception space of a room full of picturesque windows overlooking the water. Kate of Spring Lake Kateydid Florals created the most gorgeous florals throughout our space – loose, natural, garden picked arrangements in varying shades of white. Our tables and chairs were covered with beautiful white and taupe fabrics. High flowing centerpieces; silk linen overlays for our sweetheart table and white lanterns adorned the space. An abundance of crystal chandeliers hung high overhead. Jason Jani (SCE) created our lighting for the space using various shades of blues. The candles, the sequenced gold MOH dress, and the layers of lighting, the room twinkled beautifully from floor to ceiling! From our first dance to the final song (“Journey,” of course), the reception was a blast. Everyone danced the night away and our incredible DJ Jason Jani (SCE) made it quite the party. The feeling of having all of our favorite people in one place for the happiest celebration of our lives is one we will never forget!
