Jeannine and Kevin :: Married :: Millrace Pond Wedding
I’m so excited to share this Inn at Millrace Pond wedding with you this week! Jeannine and Kevin met online but quickly fell in love. These two both decided to go for an intimate and laid back wedding and I could not agree more – they pulled it off perfectly and so beautifully! I loved the indigo with hints of pink and gold for the colors. Jeannine chose her details perfectly all the way down to her Hayley Paige gown and long flowing ribbon to accent her bridal bouquet. I definitely feel like Jeannine’s interior design skills were an added bonus to designing her wedding – it was aesthetically pleasing all around.
The ceremony where friends and family gathered was quaint and sweet. Afterwards, everyone gathered under the tent for a party and a night that Jeannine and Kevin would never forget. We were able to sneak away from the crowd for some amazing night time shots on the bridge with the fairy lights. Maybe I am biased, but I love them – such a romantic, fairytale forrest feeling!

We met online! We were both a little hesitant about online dating, but had some intervention from close family/friends (Jeannine’s sister signed her up and Kevin’s friend gave him a subscription for Christmas), which was well worth it because it brought us together!
It was important to us to have a fairly laid back, intimate wedding. We didn’t want a traditional hall for a venue first, because that’s just not our style and secondly, we wanted a our wedding to be a weekend surrounded by our closest family and friends, where we could spend time together, celebrate and have an overall great time! We knew The Inn at Millrace Pond was the perfect venue for us as soon as we pulled in to the parking lot to visit it for the first time. Kevin loves history and it’s a historic site! It also had everything we were looking for in one place so we didn’t have to travel or relocate, but had plenty of changes of scenery. There was the actual Inn, so our families and friends could stay over for the weekend with us, the tavern restaurant for our rehearsal dinner and after party, the lawn for our ceremony, the Meeting House for the cocktail hour and the tent for the reception. Even though we were in one place for the entire weekend, it never felt stagnant or redundant and we were able to use the entire property! It was private, intimate and beautiful – exactly what we dreamed of!
Another important element to incorporate was our dogs. Although they couldn’t be there (Minnie, our Yorkie, passed away in December and Thor, our Boston Terrier, would have found it too stressful), we had our signature drinks named after them, which was such a big hit with our guests! For our favors, we made a donation to the Northeast Boston Terrier Rescue, which Jeannine actively works with, and gave our guests mini muffins as a gift from the newlyweds and our “muffin”, which is Thor’s nickname!
There wasn’t anything specific that inspired our wedding theme. In addition to being a middle school science teacher, I (Jeannine) am a interior designer/event planner, so planning my own wedding was the ultimate job! I like to use things that are different, so I loved the look of cotton bolls and greenery for most of our floral decor. Pink is my favorite color, so I knew I had to incorporate it, but also chose indigo as a bold neutral. I also incorporated rose gold because the metal of my engagement ring is rose gold!

It’s almost impossible to pick a favorite moment because the whole day was so incredible, but our first look was so special. We were originally unsure if we wanted to do one, because we wanted to have the moment of seeing each other for the first time while walking down the aisle. In the end, we made the right choice, because having that “first look” moment shared between just the two of us was something we will always cherish. I (Jeannine) have a runner up memory as well. I wanted to have both my parents walk me down the aisle, and my dad and I agreed we wanted to surprise my mom just before the ceremony to make it even more special. As everyone was lining up before the ceremony (including her), my dad called her over and said I needed her for one last minute thing. When she came back into the room, I told her I wanted both of them to walk me down the aisle since they are both so important to me. She had no idea what we were planning (which was incredible because she always finds everything out!) and the look on her face is something I will remember for the rest of my life.
Magical and blissful. Our wedding day was truly the happiest day of our entire lives. We were so filled with love and happiness and were overwhelmed (in a great way!) by the love and happiness expressed from our families and friends. Everything about the day turned out even more perfect than we had ever imagined it could be, and that is a feeling we will carry with us forever!
How awesome are the sprinkles on this cake? So cool!
