FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How long does the session last?

Sessions last about 60 minutes, depending on the light. Please do your best to be on time for your session so that we have the best light to work with before the sun goes down.

Should I get my hair and makeup done?

Absolutely! Why not look amazing and take the chance to pamper yourself a little? This is also a great time to do your hair and makeup trials with your vendors for the wedding day (and then maybe switch up the hair a little for some variety).

Should I get a tan?

Please no!!! This will only make your skin look orange in your pictures and I will spend many painstaking hours trying to de-orange you. Tanning makes your skin soak up light instead of reflect it in natural light photography, and in the case of your face, it will make your eyes look very dark and have circles underneath them.

If you’re tanning now, I highly suggest stopping before your engagement session, and especially before your wedding.

What should I wear?

Click here to view my Engagement Outfit Ideas Pinterest Board! Find something that fits your personality, and a little on the dressier side. Accessories are also a huge plus whether it’s an armful of bangles, a fabulous pair of earrings or sexy shoes, it really adds to the outfit and shows off your style.

Avoid things that are too tight or too loose, as they won’t be flattering in pictures, and try to stay away from loud patterns and colors like plaid and neon colors (unless you want your face to reflect that color!).

More than one outfit is ok so long as there’s a place to change. It’s best to have more time for pictures, rather than spent 20 minutes of the session changing, so make sure it’s an easy change.

Can we go anywhere to do the pictures?

Absolutely! Find a place that is special to you and your fiancée, a place that brings out the best memories or fun times that you’ve had together, or maybe even a place that you’ve always wanted to go. I’ve been all over the country for engagement sessions, so no place is too far! Any out-of-state locations, or places where I need to pay to park my car in a garage, will incur a travel fee.

Can we bring props or have a theme to the shoot?

Please do! Adding details to your engagement session not only makes for great pictures, but it helps tell about your personality and love story too. Bringing a prop that is meaningful to your relationship or tells a story about you two, as a couple, is definitely encouraged.

Themed shoots are a fun idea too! Whether it be a picnic complete with wine and a scrabble board or a vintage farm theme with your guy in suspenders and you in a lacy dress holding a tea cup and saucer. Anything goes!

What happens after we take the pictures?

After the shoot, your proofs will be ready within 3-4 weeks. From there we’ll start creating your guest signing book, printing signing boards and getting canvases, or whatever you’d like, of all of your favorite images.
