When Kristen and Kyle came to me with the idea of doing their Allentown engagement photos where they went to high school together — I was all for it! I love when couples can incorporate where they met or went on dates, into their sessions. Kristen and Kyle did exactly that and I couldn’t be more excited to share with you this adorable e-session! Read below to learn more about these two and how excited they are for their wedding day this year!
From the bride on attire:
Kyle and I wanted to have two outfits – one that captured our time in high school where we met and a more formal ensemble. For our pictures at the school, we decided to keep it simple with school t-shirts and jeans. For our second outfit, I bought a dress at the Limited. I loved that it was simple – but a few details dressed it up. I asked Kyle to buy a shirt that complemented the dress color so he chose a “bold violet” JCrew Oxford and paired it with Dockers alpha khakis.
How did you two meet?
We met in high school. We were both on the cross-country and track teams. One of my best friends (and bridesmaid!) introduced us one day during winter track. We started dating after one date of air hockey and video games and have been together ever since!
What do you both enjoy doing together with your free time?
We always seem to be busy, so we look forward to just enjoying each other’s company, relaxing at home with our cats and a good movie.
How did he pop the question?
Kyle told me he wanted to take me to dinner at Rats, one of our favorite restaurants, to get away from the stress of moving to our current place. On the way there, he asked if I wanted to walk around the Sayen Gardens in Hamilton. Once in the park, we wandered around, eventually ending up at a pretty clearing by the lake. Kyle got down on one knee and popped the question. As we were kissing and hugging, I noticed a photographer across the lake. “We should move, we’re in her photos.” I told Kyle. “Smile at her. I hired her,” he said. I was so surprised! She came over and we did a mini-photo shoot throughout the gardens. Our amazing evening ended with the promised dinner at Rats, where Kyle had arranged for our parents to meet us to celebrate. It was perfect.
What are you most excited about for your wedding? (Dances, speeches, vows, party etc).
Kristen: Dessert! I cannot wait to see the spread the Grand Marquis is putting together. Everything from funnel cake to homemade chocolate chip cookies! I am also excited to exchange our personalized vows; I will likely be crying through most of them.
Kyle: Getting everyone together for an awesome party!
What is your favorite memory together?
A few months after we started dating, we signed up to participate in Relay for Life with friends. It was the first time we got to spend that much time together. During the course of the night, we split an entire pizza for dinner. Later, Kyle told me he knew he loved me when he saw I could finish half a pizza by myself. Not quite love at first sight, but our relationship has seemed to revolve around food ever since!
