Caitlin and Steve :: Engaged :: Central Park Engagement Session
I always enjoy the rare trips I get to take to Central Park in New York City. When Caitlin and Steve mentioned a Central Park engagement session – we went out and conquered it! I remember checking the weather back and forth on days leading up to our session and it simply said ‘cloudy.’ Well, cloudy soon turned into some serious rain for a few minutes at the very beginning of our session. Not to worry – we worked with it ;-). Caitlin wore a beautiful floral dress and Steve wore a nice casual but classy blue sport coat and khakis. Keep reading to learn more about Caitlin and Steve!
How did you two meet?
If you asked us 11 years ago in homeroom when we were freshmen in high school, we probably would have never thought we were sitting next to the person we would spend the rest of our lives with. Being D’Angelo and Dugan we found ourselves sitting close to each other in most of our classes. We had the typical 15 year old crushes where Steve would tease me and I would just giggle. That went on for about a year and we officially began “dating” our sophomore year. We love thinking about the early days in our relationship and how silly they were. Memorizing each other’s schedules in hopes to pass each other in the halls, and best of all lab partners! As we plan our wedding we laugh about the marriage project we completed together our senior year as part of our religion class final project. It actually has come in handy!
What’s one thing you’re looking forward to in your life-after-marriage together?
Steve and I both love to travel, explore new restaurants and spend time with our family and friends. But to be honest we look forward to doing the simple things, decorating our house together, hosting holidays and most importantly making each other happy day to day.
How did he pop the question?
October 17, 2015 will be a day that both of us remember as pure bliss. What I thought was suppose to be a brunch with some of our closest friends in Hoboken ended up being one of the most monumental days of our lives. After arriving to Hoboken “early”, Steve suggested taking a walk along the waterfront. While looking out to the New York City skyline on that crystal clear day Steve got down on one knee and asked me to spend the rest of my life with him, without hesitation of course I said yes! We then met both our families and closest friends at 10th & Willow in Hoboken where were started a celebration that would last the whole weekend! After getting engaged it was so funny to hear about all the strategic planning and coordinating that took place.
What are you most excited about for your wedding? (Dances, speeches, vows, party etc).
There certainly is nothing else like planning a wedding! Pinterest, magazines and blog posts have been hot topics in the last few months as we plan one of the biggest days of our lives together. One of the easiest decisions we made was deciding on having the Rhythm Shop as our band; dancing shoes are a must at our wedding! Also having a love for all things food we know the Westmount Country Club will surely not disappoint. One of the most important things we are excited about is having the same priest who married Cait’s parents and baptized both Cait and her sister officiate our wedding. Overall we looking forward to seeing months of hard work come together as we get to celebrate our marriage with our families and closest friends.
What is your favorite memory together?
Cait: It is so hard to pinpoint my favorite memory together but I definitely say one of my favorite times together was when we trained for our first half marathon. We came to love our weekend long runs together, encouraging one another and making each step a fun one!
Steve: On one of our trips Cait and I had traveled to Vienna. The two of us traveled around the city taking in all the beautiful sites. In a city filled with puff pastry shops and gelato stands on every corner, the two of us were sure to not skip a single stop. We had such a great time together and it was an experience the two of us will never forget.
